Took 1/2" off my T5 bearing retainer

DEL65

Of The Morons
It's a little after-the-fact, but when I was installing my T5 to the T5 bell housing, the front bearing retainer was hitting the pressure plate leaving a appx 3/8" gap between the trans and BH. We took 1/2" off the bearing retainer and the trans fit perfectly.

I'm not sure why I had to do this, because, unless I overlooked something, I had not anticipated making this type of a modification. The clutch is a stock replacement but with is diaphragm instead of fingers.

Any idea what happened? Is this common? Thanks.

I know the '94 up T5's have a longer input shaft to match the deeper '94 up bellhousings... Is there a chance you installed a '94 up bearing ratainer, but used the 93 down bellhousing? That would be my guess...

me too... 94 an up are 5/8" longer input shaft. Not sure the difference in bearing retainer but sounds like the logical thing

I don't have any info for either the BH or trans I'm using. So that's probably what happened. Thanks for the info.
