Toyota's electric race car at the Ring!

You really get a feel for how hard that car is being pushed without the engine noise. It's boring and enlightening at the same time!

Impressive driving too.

You also get the hear very vividly the threshold braking into the corners.

The story i read says that this car generates 800Nm of torque. That is almost 600ft/lbs of torque, and being a dc electric motor, I suppose that it is not an rpm dependant torque curve, but constant torque regardless of rpms. One of you engineer types could correct me. I will bet that car would really would snap your head back from a standing start.

I wish they would have added a walk around of the car parked. I guess I've never done speeds like that with that wide of tire, is that why he jerks the wheel more than turns it?
I just learned a year ago about NEDRA http://www.nedra.com/

I went karting last week. They had electric karts, sounded just as boring as this car does! I still managed to throw down a lap within .12 second of the lap record! I missed the motor sound though.
