Traction bars....... What would you do?

I'm looking at under rider bars for my '68. I really like the simplicity of the Spring Bar Style, sold by Cobra Automotive. I also have heard great things about Cal Tracs, and the Slide a Links. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, I'll be getting a set of original Shelby-style under-rider traction bars. I can't see spending money on Cal Tracs for the amount of power I can put down with a small block.

+1

I ditched the under rides and there was no diff. I didn't have wheel hop with them on and I don't have wheel hop with them off. What I did notice was that the bushings were shot. Keep in mind that I have 4 1/2 leaf mid eye springs and not the old worn out originals.

Mark; When you say the bushings were shot, You were referring to the ones in the Traction Bars, Right?

Most likely...I've blown out the bushing on my old under riders before.

Yes, both ends too.

If you can affords them, Cal Tracs have no equal. Power level doesn't matter as they simply give you the very best launch you can get whatever your running. There's a reason all the stock type class guys use them at the strip.

Horseplay; Thanks for reinforcing everything I've heard about them. My Original intent was to use the "Traction Master" bars, but through the years I've heard much controversy about them creating bind, which I guess would explain some of the bushing wear. That's when I really got interested in the spring bar style, thinking it may be an improvement over the standard style "Traction Master". But considering C-A want's near Double the price of the Cal Tracs, I really lost my enthusiasm to own a pair! My biggest concern about the Cal Tracs, are If they make any annoying noises for a street car.... ie; Clanking, etc?
