update on Max

I couldn't take it and called the vets office to check on progress,(my daughter went to see him before surgery and held the phone to his ear so the wife could talk to him) the receptionist checked and said the doc was closing, he had a tumor blocking his intestines, he removed it and said he should recover from the surgery, also said with the holidays the lab report for cancer check might take a week, the upside is that the blood test done in the office didn't show way out of whack like it probably would have in a rapid growing cancer. I never asked what this would cost---hmmm any bets? <600>600 ? they are usually pretty reasonable, I have never felt robbed there. thanks to all of you for your words and concerns, Christmas will be a lot happier around here now----I guess there must be someone listening to prayers!

I talked later to a vet who was assisting, they actually ended up taking out a section of intestine with tumor attached---- :$$$ cha-ching!

Glad to hear Max is alright.

As far as cost be prepared. I paid close to 5,000 once, that bill added up so fast did not have time to say no. But we got another 4 years with him.

The vet called me around 3:30 after he had done another surgery after Max (that is a dedicated vet in my book, I don't think some med. doctors would do much surgery on Christmas eve) he told me what he had done and he said he would not be surprised if it was cancerous, hopefully slow growing, I also asked for a ball park guess on the bill and he said 7-800 hundred-guesstimate---the vets are a lot cheaper in small cities thank goodness.

That's good news! And the bill doesn't sound too bad...I was thinking in the $1500 ball park with the Xrays and such. Does he come home Saturday?

Glad to hear all is ok with Max and the bill.

When owning pets, they become family. One always wonders how much is to much to save a pet. Seems like when it happens, that really becomes a minor point for most. I know we have spent some on pets in the past and never once regretted it.

I never even asked what it would cost till it was done, now the last boxer we had put down they were talking university of Illinois office and $10,000. plus , I am sorry but I couldn't hack that, if it were a child or grandchild that would be different.

I just hope we bought him some quality time.
