Upgrading trucks

So, I have a mid-size 4 door truck with 167k miles. It's paid for and it's been a good truck. I no longer use it to commute with so gas mileage is no longer my main concern for a truck now. I can't really tow with it, not that I do alot anyway. I was thinking about picking up a 05 f150 Lariat that has 134k miles. I'd have to give 5500 boot. I can pay cash for it and not have a payment which I do not want or else I would buy a new one. Any thoughts, incite, and reasons to avoid a 05 5.4 with 134k miles.

Had one and it was a good truck. The mpg wasn't the best but other than that it was OK. It would tow about 5k with no problem. Once you got up to a 10k trailer it would suffer a bit.

Nice trucks, very dependable. Check to see if its had a tune-up. The spark plugs can be a bear to remove and in most cases break off in the cylinder requiring a special tool kit to remove the broken parts. When they get up there in mileage, the carbon locks the extra long electrode to the cylinder head. There are videos on youtube on how to remove them. Last one I did was in a F250 and 7 of the 8 plugs broke(had 160,000 on originals). Nothing like a 5.5 hour job plus and $85 tool just to replace plugs.... The plugs themselves are $12 to $20 each also. Another thing to look out for is the auto hubs for the 4X4, higher mileage trucks can develop vacuum leaks which causes partial engagement. Makes some funky noises. I've also had one come in with both front coil springs broken near then end. Other than that, I just see them for basic maintenance.
