Utah and Colorado fires

Anyone hear from Mel ...guruatbol....about the fires in Utah ?
Hope he and his family are ok

Toni contacted Glen Morgan...mrgem... in Colorado and there main home is ok
The fires were about 40 miles from them.

There are other fires near their cabin home so they are going this weekend
to cut down more trees. Glen told Toni...1 dead and 180 homes destroyed
and that was a few days ago.

There was a fire yesterday about 20 miles south of me in Leeds. No injuries or structures damaged. There were evacuations and highway closures. They had a helicopter staged in Ash Creek wash the other day, but the reservoir is empty this year.

We are having hot weather that is about a month early and the place is dry as a bone.

The fires up North are pretty bad this year. Reminds me of about 20 years ago when we were driving through to go to Darby, MT and it seemed as if the entire state of Utah was on fire.

This state seems to rebound from fire well. The vegetation needs to burn once in a while. We had a nasty fire 3-4 years ago about a mile from our house and you would never know it now! the trees are nice and big and green and the undergrowth is not bad at all!

I did get the weed eater out and clear a bunch around my house this year.

We have big man made fires in Kansas every year. Keeps the wild fires in check.

Ok, new fire to report. 1.5 miles from my house the Interstate is closed....one house burned and zero containment.

The good news is I am South and the fire is going North.

It looks like we will be fine.
