video of near misses-(some look like maybe movie scenes?)

As Carlin would say, i know that we say it this way, but isn't near miss the wrong way to say it? Shouldn't it be called a near hit? If I nearly miss something, didn't i barely hit it?

I am glad I am not the only one who sees it this way. In the railroad industry the feds make us report near misses. I tell them they are near hits!
