Virus Warning - Other Mustang Website...

For old times sake I just visited a competing 3 letter mustang website... my Norton's listed a block virus attack... Cleaned temp files, updated Norton, ran scan and went back... blocked another virus... Thing sure have changed since the days of the white background (I am a member of that site since 1999)....

Thanks for the warning. Sometime around Feb. a virus (trojan) got me over there and crashed my computer pretty good. It is getting to be pretty risky going onto that site anymore.

I think the OP was just trying to be diplomatic. He was kind enough to warn us folks that frequent both sites about what happened to him. I am on that site all the time and I get threat blocks constantly. One time my anti-virus didn't block the trojan and it crashed my computer big time. There are so many ads. there that some have viruses attached to them and creates havoc for many. Since the owner of the site doesn't seem to be worried about it or even some of you moderaters either, we have to warn each other. Just because you haven't experienced any threats doesn't mean they are not there.

Gee, I think you can say VMF here. And no, I haven't heard of any problems.

I'm a mod there, too, and we are aware of virus problems a couple months or so ago. Someone did post yesterday about a problem, but I'm not sure if that person has been on there recently. The admin is aware of the problem and has dealt with it twice when it happened. The viruses are in the ads.

No offense Laurie, but part of the reason I never go there is due to the adds!

So, now that there is a risk of a virus I will be sure to not go there.

Thanks for the update Laurie... I realize the use of the VMF name is taboo on this site (or it was at one time), however I also know that many visit both so I wanted to let people know. I figured it must have been the advertising as you said...

I don't think this site ever restricted the VMF name.......did it? Maybe my memory is old too.....

Virus' come from many sites....I juat avoid those that have regular problems and use good protection...

Firefox + AdBlock Plus extension. Don't leave home without it.

P.S. - Flashblock helps too
