VW Emissions Issue

Wow! A deliberate means of enabling strict emissions controls for diesel vehicles while under test for emissions and then going back to standard levels while driving. VW's stock has dropped 40% in just two days, and they set aside $7B just to handle repairs in the third quarter. Talk about a screw-up, one that is likely to damage the name brand for decades to come.

I will not be surprised if VW files for bankruptcy within a year.

Unbelievable. Who in their right mind would even consider approving such a program for implementation? Did they not think of the consequences?

Thought I read somewhere it is going to be in the neighborhood of 15 billion in fines. :eek:
Blame it on {.}

I thought Randy was posting something about noxious emissions from Vinny (though I never knew Vinny's last name began with a "W")!:D

It will take a lot to bankrupt VW, as it is a huge, huge company. Could happen, though.

All the tree huggers that bought them will probably sue (FIFY) VW too.

Probably true. According to the news report I saw tonight they've set aside several billion for the US market, but only millions for the rest of the world. Gettin' ready for the fines and lawsuits!!

One of my coworkers is a big diesel VW fan. Not only does he have one of the affected VW's but also the Audi A3. Though he claims he's not a tree hugger, he sure was pissed when the announcement was made!
