Wal-Mart story

guruatbol

Always on vacation!
I was in Wal-Mart the other day to get some things while I was in town and stopped and saw SWMBO. I got what I needed and left.

When SWMBO got home she told me something disturbing happened when I was there. She said it had to do with someone carrying a concealed weapon. She said you know you are not supposed to carry a concealed weapon in Wal-Mart, right?

I got worried because I didn't know and I had mine with me while shopping the other day. I said I knew.

She went on to tell me there was a guy in the store that is there a lot. (Uh, oh!) I am hoping that I am not sweating.

Well anyway, this guy went into the bathroom in the back of the store. He took his weapon off and sat it down while he used the restroom. He forgot to put it back on and by the time he remembered it and went back the weapon was gone!

No surprise that nobody turned it in. the cops were called and a report taken.

Whew, I was off the hook.

Some people should not be allowed to carry! I think if you do some bonehead thing like that, you should have your Concealed permit revoked!

I always carry concealed in Walmart and according to their corporate policy, it's not a problem. In Georgia, the corporate policy of a business has no say in whether you can carry in their store or not. If it is legal, it is allowed by law. Now, that said, if you are asked to leave and don't, you can be charged with trespassing. Your states may vary.

"Thank you for contacting Wal-Mart regarding our concealed handgun policy. Wal-Mart was founded by Sam Walton on three basic principles. Strive for Excellance, Service to our Customers, and Respect for the Individual. It is that respect for the individual that led us to create the current policy pertaining to concealed handguns.

The following is our policy......If a Wal-Mart customer has been awarded a concealed handgun license by the state government, Wal-Mart will follow the direction of the state. However, if at anytime while on Wal-Mart property, that customer's concealed weapon becomes visible to Wal-Mart associates or customers, Wal-Mart reserves the right to ask the customer to either reposition the weapon so that it will not be visible, to remove the weapon completely or to leave Wal-Mart property, With the exception of law enforcement personnel, Wal-Mart does not allow any exposed weapons to be worn or carried in public view on Wal-Mart property or in Wal-Mart stores. Customers other than law enforcement personnel wearing or carrying a weapon in an exposed manner will be asked to leave the property immediately."

Word from my carry organization is that the above was written a decade ago, and the current policy is if it is legal by the state, then it is okay with Wal-Mart. This means that open carry is permitted in states that allow it. I have yet to verify this, mainly because I never open carry.

how could you be stupid enough to leave your weapon in a wally world restroom.

Probably the same reason that moron is driving so slow in front of me, (not at the moment in time) talking on the cell phone and is distracted. fd

here in TN, if a business doesn't want you carrying on their property, they have to post signs on the property that includes the correct TN code number relating to the law eg: "no firearms allowed pursuant to TN code ### "etc. a simple "no handguns allowed" sign isn't valid & all they can do is ask you to leave. wal-mart is a place i always carry, seen too many things go on in there not to.

Good post Monkey. I would like to see the current policy.

I have been told that pretty much all the states are like TN and respect the rights of the property owner. I can tell you that in UT there is a list kept by the state of property owners that do not allow it. This list includes the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints.

I can tell you, that when I was carrying all the time, I would respect the property owner. When I would go to my Mom's house, I would remove my weapon and unload it. She didn't mind if it was in the house, she just didn't want it loaded.

My whole point was how dumb can you be?

Worst part about it is they breed too. Passing the stupidity on to the next generation of wall mart shoppers.

Early on in my training I remember someone telling me to put your gun in your drawers while you are on the toilet. Makes it pretty hard to forget that way!

Dog Food

I was buying a 2 large bags of Purina dog chow at Wal-Mart, for my dogs Winston, Chief, Gus, and Maximus. I was about to check out when a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. What did she think, that I had an elephant?

Since I had little else to do, on impulse, I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, and that I was starting the Purina Diet again, although I probably shouldn't because I ended up in the hospital last time. On the bright side though, I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in an intensive care ward with tubes coming out of every hole in my body and IVs in both arms.

I told her that it was essentially a perfect diet and that the way that it works is to load your pockets with Purina nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry and that the food is nutritionally complete so I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in the line was enthralled with my story by now.)

Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food had poisoned me. I told her no; I had stopped in the middle of the parking lot to lick my butt and a car hit me.

I thought the guy behind her was going to have a heart attack, he was laughing so hard!

WAL-MART won't let me shop there anymore.
