Yak, yak, yak
The old saying goes something along the lines of, "you can talk the talk, but can you walk the walk?. A short time back a thread was posted of a video clip for a police motorcycle rodeo rider. I posted a reply to that thread. In the spirit of keeping with being able to walk the walk, I got to compete in one of the rodeos this week. We just finished up yesterday after a long hard week of riding and dodging weather. I had previously competed 7 years ago and took a 2nd in class in my very first rodeo. Due to just getting back on a police motor this past fall after having been off for 6 years, I was entered in the novice category, along with my younger brother whom I work with. I can proudly say he came away with a third in class. I finished with a fifth place. They told me the look of surprise on my face was priceless when I was called up to receive my trophy. What most didn't realize was, there were only 5 people in our class! Guess it's better than getting 6th place then!! LOL :bowdown
I most likely would have taken third from my brother, but got a cone jammed in between my front fender and wheel. I didn't know it and the judges didn't stop me (which I was later told they should have done). That brought the bike down while I was in a turn and cost me 10 points. One of my fellow competitors told me about it afterwards and he even went to the event staff and advised them. Since I was on the dispute committee I didn't even broach the subject and just let it be. I certainly wasn't going to be "that guy"! All in all it was a tough but fun week with a lot of new friends made and a ton of experience gained. Now I'm looking forward to next year! :thu
