War on Terror Memorial dedication

Save the date. We are in the process of laying out the bricks by print. There will also be a book at the site for all to find their own brick. Of course it won't be hard for any of the Stangfix bricks. Go to Sam's side of the pentagon. By the way, we made the Stangfix brick a 8x8 with the pony logo. Will sit in front of all the rest. Sam

Sam & David:

Thanks for the reminder. It caused me to pause, reflect on Sam's contribution to this community and his ultimate sacrifice, and realize that despite good intentions, I had not yet ordered my brick. Now that has been taken care of, and I am grateful that your family has allowed all of us to participate in a lasting memorial to Sam. Your family's strength is inspirational.

Warm Regards, Jeff

I am so grateful that you keep us informed.
May we never forget!

Well everyone, David is approaching 85%. Marble is being inscribed and we will be scheduling delivery from NJ. The NC USO is having a work day on June 25th to lay blank bricks so that the masonry co can cut the angles on the sides of the pentagon patio.
When we spoke to the Holly Springs mayor and council about how big to have the dedication, they said the bigger the better. So just as we all think things are coming to a close, it really is getting wound up. Brick sales will close on April 15th for the dedication delivery but sales will probably go on forever. It is easy, lift a blank out, and set a engraved one in. I did a to scale drawing to see how the Stangfix (Sam's side) would look. You will be surprised how much area you all participated in.
Sam

I think we that donated are all very proud and glad that we were able to. This is a great memorial. You all should be very proud of your tireless efforts.

It's an honor to be able to participate in Sam's Memorial. I remember when I first bookmarked his Folding seat Website...what a resource.

The visit to the memorial is now on my bucket list, and it's a long way from Tucson! Thanks for the updates, will the dedication be streamed, I'd love to watch?

Any chance that I can see some pictures ??
I won't be able to see or visit Sam's Memorial cause I don't live in the states but would like to see my brick and be proud to contribute to Sam's Memorial just because he is a decent guy who would help everyone that is in need.

My wife Cherie (07 Shelby) and daughter Kelly(65 A code & 07 V6) will be making a book of all the bricks and donors. Don't know if it will be just one left at the site or printed material to hand out. Cherie plans on also doing a book of dedication pics. Were are just starting the fine tuning of speakers but Sam's unit from FL want to come. When we said we would have to get a block of rooms reserved, they said they were Marines and only needed running water. So I guess we are having them at our house. The shirts they are making have been delivered and you can see them on David's facebook page (DG War on Terror Memorial).

Emotionally we as a family are all over the board with this. Sam was always the goto guy in our family for everything. It is amazing that David has raised all $30000 now and his eagle project is a reality. It all comes from friends and comrads, family, clubs, organizations, businesses, churches, youth groups..........everyone gave time , money, cards, letters and best of memories and experiences of knowing him both in person and on line. Some day David and I will be able to put our cars together.

I knew I should've waited until I got home to read this. Damn dust.

awesome job!

My dad got a call and local masons came out to Veterans Park on Monday, April 28 to cut brick at each corner of the brick pentagon. These are the dummy bricks until the printed bricks come in. I'm so excited to see the memorial coming together. June 14th will be here before we know it! Thank you to everyone for all of your support!

I live about 15-20 minutes away from the site I will take plenty of pics when it is finished and post them

Don't forget we have 2 spare bedrooms if anyone
needs / wants to stay over and leave in the morning.

We also hope some of you stop at our house after
the ceremony as some did after the Church Memorial
Service for Sam.

Just let us know either on this thread...or...pm me.
Uncle Vinny
