Welding tip of the day............

Here's something that I have done for a while and it really makes a difference in a constant wire feed on a MIG. It's an ear plug that cleans the wire just before the feed rollers. The reason for this is, if you do any grinding in the same area it often will stick to the spool of wire in the welder. It only takes a short time for the wire to become "magnetized" and attract the grindings. Thought I'd pass it along.

My Lincoln came with a small piece of round solid felt with an aluminum clip on it that slipped over the wire. Good post as I was looking for a replacement as the slit is oversized and needed replacing.

Can't beat a ear plug. Change it when you change wire. The wire needs to be pushed through the plug and not slipped over the wire.
