So what's the shortest time any of you have kept a daily driver. I just broke my previous record of 4 months.

I just sold the Jaguar I bought 56 days ago. It really wasn't working for us. It was nice. Handled curves very well, got 26 mpg. But had a few things we didn't like. We bought it on the fly and I settled on a price point instead of getting something I really wanted.

Oh well on to something else.

About a month. My mother made a bet that if I could get her 82 firebird running, I could have it. I got it running and road worthy the next weekend. Then promptly totaled it shortly afterward.
 
2 years. It was an Olds something or other, pimp mobile (as I referred to it). Used it only for winter driving when I had the 99GT. Biggest P.O.S. I've ever owned!
 
I really don't count my fastback as a daily driver, though that's what is was originally purchased for (had it on the road for almost two years before taking it off and pulling it down for resto...still underway, 26 years later!). I've owned that for 28 years next month. My 1980 F150 was my daily driver for 13 years..and I still have that too!

I should have listened to my inner voice and not bought it in the first place. I sold it for $100 more than I paid for it, but I'm out the tax and title fees. Oh well.
 
my problem with cars is not keeping them long after they are completed. i guess i get bored with nothing to do on them & start seeing things i would have done different, so sell & start the next project. had the 40 coupe for 7 yrs, yet sold it 3 months after it was finished. had a truck i built before that & traded it for a 40 coupe 6 months after it was finished. traded that 40 for the one mentioned above a month after getting it.

maybe thats why i'm dragassing about finishing this mustang?? i want to keep it, but will be afraid that it wont last long after its done...

You should finish the Mustang and then take it on a long cross-country drive. Not to the donut shop.....a real drive. Along the way you will have issues. What you really want right? To fix it. So drive it....fix it. Use the thing for what it was meant for. Driving.
 
1 month. Tend to come across some deals on vehicles. Will buy and sell pretty quickly. There were a few years where I had to title in the wife's name to keep from having to get a dealer's license.
 
Checking out the replies I suddenly realized...boy do I feel mentally challenged. Oh wait, I don't need to be PC here. Boy do I feel like an r-tard. Pat did say "SHORTEST" time owned. I guess I confused it with the bus I musta ridden to school!

The SHORTEST time for a daily driver was ummm, ONE day! It was my very first car, a 1965 Comet Caliente. I didn't like it, drove it to the backyard, parked it and put it up for sale. Boy could I kick myself now!

Man I'm feelin' the love here today! LOL Actually my best friend bought it...then turned around and sold it also. Another person that feels like kicking himself nowadays! It was a complete and totally rust free car with factory buckets, console, 289-2v and C4 auto. All it really needed was a paint job, and my father painted cars. I went from that to a '68 Olds Cutlass S with a 350-4v, console, buckets and a power glide (console shifter), also complete and rust free. It DID get a new paint job.

i do drive them. in the 7 yrs that i had the 40 coupe in black primer, i put close to 15,000 miles on it. it made trips to ky, oh, va, in, ga etc. same with the 69 p/u. when it was in original paint & primer i drove it a bunch. just seems like once they are finished, its time to move on ( plus, doing everything myself, i make a good profit when i sell. made 30k on the 40 so the extra money is always nice). i have kept my current 69 p/u for 12 yrs, but always need a truck & dont have time to build another now. maybe my trend is changing??
