Well, this is bad...

Not Mustang related (chevy 454). A piston in the boat decided to do this:

Debris held the intake valve open, which sucked little fragments into the rest of the engine

On the bright side, I can now upgrade the beast.

I feel your pain. I have an engine problem with my boat, too. It seems the last time it was rebuilt and two connecting rod bolts weren't tightened. The bearings burned up and the crankshaft is bent. Grrrrrr.......
 
Wow, that's pretty sloppy. Looks like mine is poor rebuild also, head gasket overhung the bore causing detonation/pre-ignition.

Break Out Another Thousand
 
Block looks good, crank good, rods yet to be determined. Heads are crap, but they were low perf crap before, so no big loss
