went drag racing today!

I went to a test and tune day at Beach Bend. Had a great time. I got three passes in. With the new converter I ran 13.8's consistently. That's on street tires, pump gas with my 3.25 gears. My valve springs are getting pretty weak so I had to shift at 5,000 rpms so I didn't risk floating the valves. But the converter helped my 60 foot times. I used to run 2.2, today I got 1.9's. My time is for the left lane on the time slip shown in the picture.
This winter I plan to swap in my TKO and my Edelbrock aluminum heads and a new cam. Hoping to get it into the 12's. I also saw Doug Ford's old Mustang II there.

it was fun. Weather was perfect. Sun was shinning and temps were comfortable. There were a lot of classes running as well so I only got three passes but I enjoyed watching the other classes run too. Really gives me the bug to get the drag car together.

I bet I could do 20 seconds in the quarter mile. Lol.
you would be surprised. I'm guessing I have 400 hp. so that's a little over 300 to the wheels. Car is 3400 lbs. I know that's heavy for a coupe but it's iron heads, C6, 9" with cast iron calipers front and rear, etc. etc.
Your car is probably similar weight. Stock HO 5.0? Maybe 100 to 150 hp less? Similar rear gear ratio. lower 1st gear in trans. It would be fairly quick I bet

Awesome! I'm jealous because it's been almost exactly 1 year since I've been down the track. I can't wait to get mine running again, and start getting passes in. It's going to be considerably faster than it was.

Those heads sure are pretty, but I'm not sure I consider a clutch a big improvement. Lol ;)

I just got rid of my old heads, and am about to buy some Sam Vincent ported 240 Highports. I've got a new Dart block laying in the floor that will have some nice internals from Callies, with a Super Vic intake, topped with some Holley fuel injection.

Oh, and nitrous, of course :D

It's not just a clutch. I'm swapping the C6 for a TKO 600 5 speed. The manual trans may be harder to be consistent but the gearing will be much better. After the trans swap I can play with rear gears too and still keep rpm's down at highway and hopefully keep trimming that 60 foot time!

that sounds pretty serious!

Lol...I know, I was just harassing. Auto > manual was my point :D

It should be pretty serious. When all is said and done, it should go ~10.30s on motor and deep deep 9s on the bottle.
