Went to the surgeon this morning---got worse report--

He said I had 5 years left if I did nothing (educated guess) he said I needed 6 bypasses, he also said a lot of surgeons probably wouldn't touch me--not what a fellow likes to hear---up side is he says the heart muscle itself is strong and currently undamaged, just starving for blood--gonna shoot for sept surgery--I see big drunk coming----

Crap Rod, You sure know how to turn a sunny day bleak..........just giving ya crap as if you're not already dealing with a lot of it. Yes, glad to hear the the heart itself is in good shape. Sept is just around the corner so hurry and get plastered asap so you can get soberized......then again maybe you'll want to remain plastered as you walk into the hospital.

What that report tells me is you are lucky enough to have the time to change a few things in your lifestyle and get the necessary surgery to extend your time much, much further. You could have been one of those guys (like my father) who just dropped one day without ever a sign of problems. One step at a time and you'll be good to go before you know it.

What you need is something to keep your mind occupied...like fantasy football! :peter

:stu :stu Looking forward to having you around many many more years Rod. :thu

Rod, our thoughts are with you and hope that your doctors get you all straightened out. In the meantime, find out what will help the situation and start down that path. We're not ready to lose such a great joke poster!

Get 'er done...
We're hoping for the best and you'll probably have to make some sacrifices to maximize the recovery... Do it all.

Thanks all--He didn't even mention exercise for now--I am sure there will be lots afterward---(hope so) I knew there was something wrong this spring while mushrooming---chest would hurt after little exertion, I kept trying to blame it on being in that wreck, the seat belt was tough on me--huge bruising, now I am hurting without much exertion.

Wish you the best.

Short story, my father in law had a heart attack, survived that 10+ years later, he needed a triple bypass and after another ten years he had sudden cardiac arrest and fell down dead at the gym...then they revived him, 93% don't get past the paddles, then after all that, he had another triple bypass, moral of the story, YOU CAN DO IT!

Bad news according to my FIL, he said he can't collect on his life insurance even though he technically died! :no

BTW he is a Mustanger too...68 vert.

Hope all works out for you Rod. I had a heart attack in 2008. I was lucky that it was a "mild" heart attack and I didn't need a bypass. My blockage was 100% and they couldn't put a stint in but it was near the end of an artery and the damage was done so they left it.
Anyway, take care of yourself.

The Doc said I have three of the smaller arteries 100% blocked--he said I was feeding the blood to the heart from the outer edge arteries, it is amazing the backups the body has. I asked a friends wife who has worked in peoria hospital for near 20 years and she said thid Dr. Geiss would be her choice for heart surgery---I am betting my life he is good--actually I am not totally worried about dying from the operation, I am not too thrilled about the pain involved from splitting the chest open---I imagine with my manly iron clad chest they will have to bring in a jack hammer. Probably will need a weedwacker just to trim the hair away.

Does this mean it will be free? seriously I wonder what the bill will be--200,000--more??? less??? I will not see the actuall amount the insurance company pays. I am only worth about 125,000. dead to the wife (I never went too high on life insurance to give her or others ideas)I bet I will not be able to afford any more after this operation.
