Yak, yak, yak
Well it's been one year as of today since I started my new job. The sad thing is that as of midnight last Friday all of my State certifications expired due to having been gone from my last job for over one year. I worked mighty hard to obtain and keep, all of them (read, several hundred hours of training just to get them!). I held them for twelve years.
The great thing is, today I got my first promotion up the pay scale AND completed my probationary period! I'm now a tenured employee..woohoooo! The promotion isn't a longevity raise, but a full pay scale increase. I'll get another each year over the next two years, after which it'll be competitive promotions or simply longevity raises.
The current pay raise isn't as large a percentage as my future promotions will be, but it's not bad. They hired me further up the step scale due to pay matching previous positions I had. Basically, I've been getting the remainder of what I would be getting during the past year so I made out better. It is sooooo nice after all of these years to finally be getting a really nice salary and have a nice retirement waiting just several years down the road!
