What else am I forgetting before dropping Clevo into Shag this weekend?

Heater core installed and hoses are running into the bay. Pedal linkage? Never thought about that for I figured I could do it afterwards. Hmmmmmmm

When you think about working on a car with the engine installed, there is not much you can't do. Some just easier without the engine. Stop worrying and install the thing. By the way, have you got plenty of padding for the bay to prevent scratching as you fit the assembly into the car?

With my NorCal entourage, you think we're going to scratch anything? Even after our weekly blender Margarita madness? Naw, I got plenty of blankets if necessary.

IIRC, it has to go through the firewall and then turn, you could probably do it with the engine in the car, I was just thinking how it goes through and then turns, dont want to hit the firewall or the engine while you do it.

Be sure and fill up the tranny with fluids; it's easier out of the car. It's best to leave the rear plug out, as it might scratch the firewall during lowering.

I'd re-check your oil pump shaft fasteners one more time before installation as well.

Good luck!

Buy lots of booze and steaks for your helpers.

Also, change the blinker fluid before the engine goes in, it gets in the way if you don't.

I forgot my throttle linkage. I baaaaaaaaaarley got it twisted in place. In fact I think if it wasn't for the Ron morris adjustable mounts I would have had to re lift a little. Just get it in the hole and tape it to the side (or fully mount it) . Just getting it in was the hard part. I had already put the Headers on too. I wish I had put the starter on first as well.

Thanks Mark,
Just sent an email to myself at work to not forget to install the pedal assy.

Yeah, do a video of the a fore mentioned event! Lets see the fabulous crew in action, you know like a nascar event crew...lol. See how fast they can slap that puppy in there and get it cranked :eek:mg

I'm afraid it will be a short lived party for I can't foresee any real gotchas. No cranking of the motor until next month for I still need to install dizzy, wires, carb, gas tank, etc.

My engine builder will be over for the crank.

Accelerator rod installed? Got a recent picture of the engine bay, that may trigger some thoughts.

+1 ACCELERATOR PEDAL BEFORE ENGINE !!!!!!!

brake lines , e- brake cable , accelerator pedal , steeringbox and steering column but then again in your case its not that important because the steering shaft is short in a 68 mustang. Its not too late to put an engine in the car but sometimes it can be too soon.So don' t do this in a hurry.Take your time.

...Good god, what else am I forgetting?..

...a couple of 6 packs, double your time estimate, touch-up paint for when you scratch the paint on the way in, a catch pan for fluids that always seem to find their way onto the floor, a box of band-aids, and a sacrificial golf club to throw when the hedders just won't drop in.

A good folding chair to sit back and admire your work when you're done.
