What's a Rod Run?

I'll take a gander...
A cruise is a local cruise or cruise-in...mostly static or very slow moving.
A Car show is entirely static.
A rod run is where a group of cars (hot rods?) go out for an extended drive (100's of miles) and usually exceed the speed limit, aka Power Runs.

And typically have predetermined destination spots. Most involve bars. Lots of fun. But to me, not the best mix while driving. Especially driving something "flashy".
