What's the drive like from Reno to Thunderhill raceway?

I'm guessing it's over the mountains, just curious what the drive is like. Hauling a tag trailer with my car inside.

For fun I'd take the back roads ....but not with a trailer.

Easiest would be 80 west to 5 north. It some going south to head north again but those back roads that head more west after you are on the west side of the Sierras would be more stopping and starting than I think you would like.

Its a boring ride no matter what.

Fun as heck when you get there though! I would switch out those 4:10's or install a 5th gear. You'll hit 130mph on the front straight...

When are you going? For any Shelby club events? If so, I'll put you in touch with some of my buddies out there. I'm sure they are going. I'll be at SAAC35 in Sonoma in August. Now THAT would be a great event to go too although I prefer the Thunderhill track to Sears Point.

Doubtful I'd be going, I was just thinking about the drive from some info a friend sent me. More curiosity than anything else.

I remember what the drive from Bend to Portland was like, going over the Cascades was a long, twisty haul with the trailer, not one I liked to do.

The right hand lane on I-80 westbound will jar your teeth out of your mouth. I have pulled my toyhauler over it many times, and each time I swear I would never do it again. If I was pulling any type of trailer, I would certainly make sure everything is tied down extremely well. Gotta love these California highways!
