Fishing a new phone and cable line through my house i discovered a little box, almost like a time capsule. Inside was Was some Boy scout information, photos and a hand book from 1942. Two complete newspapers from the "pittsburgh press" dated 1936. Front page was all about the great pittsburgh flood, that nearly wiped out down town two days before (the date on the paper was when service resumed). And the last thing was a front pager from the "pittsburgh leader" dated September 10 1901. Cover story, the president will live. President William McKinley, Jr. died 3 days later. My home was built in 1960, who knows how this chit got there.

Did you ever find anything?

That is neat ! I found a diamond tennis bracelet in a parking lot once, the wife loved it, I had a jeweler look at it, he said it was worth over $2,000. easily, there was a add in a local paper about a lost one, the lady described the bracelet exactly and 2 places she might have lost it at. One was the parking lot. I gave it back, got $50. reward---the lady was a bixxx also.

I have found several neat things thru all the years but the best has to be my wife. Without her, I would not be able to continue finding the other neat things.......Get a metal detector.....amazing what you can find.

My great grandmother lived to be well into her 90's and passed away when I was in my early teens.

When she went to the retirement home and we were cleaning out her house we found all kinds of cool stuff. Somewhere I still have 3 or 4 old school text books, some of them have copy right dates in the early 1900's. Don't think they are really worth much but they make some pretty cool antiques.

While in basic training I would stash contraband in the attic of the old wooden WWII barracks we lived in. When my drill Sergeant pointed out that I wasn't the first to think of this hiding place, it made me wonder what else might have found its way up there over the years. That weekend (after KP for the contraband) I found a way into the attic. I found, covered in coal dust from the many years heating by that method, a couple of collectables... An M1 Garand bayonet, Numerous WWII era beer cans, and a newspaper with the headline "Japs Evacuate Guadalcanal"...

How exactly is the contractor in a position to get 40% of the find?

Hold your open hand out in front of your face and walk sharply into it.

Tsk..... tsk...

Because the contractor hired a lawyer and the lawyer's cut is 40% of the plaintiff's cut. If it's fair for the lawyer to get 40%, it has to be fair for the plaintiff.

If your working on somones car and you tear it down and happen to find a wad of cash under the rear seat, you have a couple options. Pocket the loot and never mention it to the owner. Tell the owner, maybe you will get a cut/reward. But how could you as a person tell the owner that you deserve 40%?

When we pulled the interior out of my Stang we found what looked at first to be a diamond ear ring under the seat. Heaven only knows how it got there (perhaps a trip to lovers' lane many years ago?) or how long it had been there. Turns out it was fake, O'well....

I found a stash of old Playboy magazines in an old abandoned house when I was in the 5th grade. Thank goodness the old rumor isn't true...
