wheel hub? Explorer

I have a grinding coming from the front wheel bearing hub on my '07 Explorer.

Probably going to replace the hub since it's ~ $170 at O'Reilly and I don't have a press to replace just the bearing.

Any body know about how much I should torque down the hub bolts?

Any other useful specs would be helpful.... :shrug

Doesn't seem like it will be hard to do but thinking famous last words on that one, LOL!

Boys play at 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. tomorrow so I should have all afternoon to mess with it tomorrow and what the heck the weather is nice.

I had planned on trading out the carb on the Trans Am but guess that will have to wait....again :soapboxrant

You can't replace the bearings in those. You have to replace the hub assembly. I did my bosses 04 Mountaineer. It's not a terrible job and you should be able to do it in an hour or so. I don't remember torqueing anything to spec, just tightening good. His wife is still driving it and that was last summer I replaced it.

Yeah, knew I had to replace the hub.

Got it done and eventually managed to find some torque specs on a forum that deals with Explorers and F150's, etc...who know :)

Which by the way, they suggested the three bolts that hold the hub on be tightened to 75-100 lbs.
