where does the neg bat. cable attach on a 65/66?

V8's have the attachment point in the same general area.

Don't forget to install a ground strap back from the engine to the chassis (firewall).

Anyone have an opinion why they grounded directly to the block, and then back to the chassis? I believe most new cars go direct to the chassis with a shot cable and then from the chassis to the block...

Mine goes from the block to the frame rail via short battery cable, then with the battery in the trunk, another short battery cable goes from battery negative post to chassis. I don't think the path matters so long as you have all three in tied to eachother with good cables and solid connections.

As far as being from battery to block directly, I'd venture to guess that ford wanted the shortest path from the bat negative to the starter housing. I don't think the typical braided ground cable going from the motor to the firewall could support the high current draw of the starter...
