Which Carfax ?

My son is looking for a new used daily driver so I thought I'd get carfax for him. Per the below link, I see 3 choices as being:

1 report
5 reports
unlimited reports by US license plates

I question the last one. Are they saying that you would only enter the license plate number? Not the VIN?

If he has a specific vehicle he is purchasing just one would be fine.

I did the 5 reports when I was looking for my Infiniti. I didn't really trust the license plate one. Seems fishy.

You can actually scan the barcode on a car inside the door to pull the Carfax too.

Can't say much about those cars ( like A4 or A6 or 3 and 5series)
C and E -class from 2008 on are very good cars.
I presume he doesn't want a diesel but a gasolin powered one.
V6 is a M272 engine. Only problem is premature failure of worn sprockets of the balance axis or shafts in the engine.
engine lights come on and in memory of engine management states : sensor failure of camshaft right side.
this is due bad oil , bad service , bad material used in the early production engines.
V8 is a M273 or 156 engine. Bolts from the intake manifold have to be changed to aluminium ones.
2008-9 E220CDI is a very good car.No problems whatsoever.
500.000 Km no problem at all with oil service every 15.000 Km .
