Cuz my heat went out. Got an older York furnace and it won't light. It has an electronic ignition instead of a pilot light. It comes on, I hear and smell gas, then.....nothing. It'll run this cycle twice then turn off.

I have similar problems every once in awhile with mine. It's been caused by dirty contacts, blocked intake / exhaust lines (snow, bird nests, mouse nests) etc....

Does it have flashing light "codes"? Those usually tell you where to look.

sounds like a faulty igniter, you should see the igniter glow red when calling for heat, I hope it's not as cold there as it is here, -34c with the wind chill

That's what I'm thinking. There is no glow, no lit up lights on the board. It's pretty chilly here, about 24F, won't get above freezing all weekend and in the teens at night. Glad I have a fireplace and a bunch of firewood.

Some furnaces use a sparking ingnitor instead of a hot wire type, our older York did anyway. You can usually ear the sparking type. Occasionally, these get crudded over and short - if you have one, cleaning it will sometimes fix it temporarily. The other option is that the HV coil went out.

Either way, it sounds like you need a new ignition system.

Scratch what I said about the leds.
7 red flashes - (optional) heating mode 1 hour waiting period for auto reset from flame failure lockout

Update: Upon further digging, I found the ignition coil. Took it out, cleaned it up, and found a hairline crack in it. Peachy. Now where the hell can I get one.

Never fails, these things always quit when you need them the most! That's why I added a propane stove when we moved in, if the furnace takes a dump at least I won't freeze.

Start calling local York dealers, maybe Home Repot or Lowells????
