Who still carries a spare tire in their trunk?

Just curious more than anything, do most people still carry a spare tire and jack in their mustang trunk? I would think yes, especially if the car is driven at all... but don't know.

I have them in all my cars. I bought a doughtnut spare for my fastback to save room in the trunk.

I will in my '66 when she's drivable again. You never know when you might get a flat!! My '03 mustang of course has a donut spare atleast. Which I'm very thankful for because last month I got a flat. Check out that awesome flat tire!

The worst part was the lug nuts were on so tight I couldn't get them off (insert getting nuts off comment here) and had to call my tow truck buddy to come help. How degrading... having to call a guy to come help change my flat tire. :rant

I would always recommend having a spare!!!

I carry spares in both the 66 and 65 since I do drive them long distances. I carried a spare from a 89 cougar for a long time before I realized that the lug pattern was something like 4.25" instead of the 4.5" I needed. We were on a road trip and a friend had a flat and we trid to put my spare on his 67 mustang. :confu

I do not have a spare for my driver. I do have a spare for my wife's. I also have a jack and extra lug nuts in her trunk.

I don't need a spare in the 66, that's what the trailer's for!

Now my DD's and truck all have full size spares along with the factory donut and each vehicle has their own floor jack and ratchet. I get flats all the friggin time.

Your 66 doesn't need a spare tire in the trunk it needs a back-up.....you know.

Bottle jacks are your friend, IMHO. A whole lot better than just about all the factory jacks I've seen. Plus, they don't take up much room at all.

Nah, I just live on crappy gravel roads where they use creek rock instead of something less detrimental to tires!

I carry a spare, a jack from a 92 T-bird (it's the only thing that would fit under the car if it had a flat), a jump box, jumper cables, basic tools, wire, tape, fluids, etc. I drive my car a lot and on two occasions made 3,000+ mile round trip in a week so I try to be prepared. So far I haven't had too many catastrophes!
On the Power Tour this year, the strut rod nut came loose on the left and I chewed up a tire on the way home but I did make it home!

If I take the car on a long trip I put the spare in. Otherwise I usually don't keep it in the Mustang. :hide

Of course a spare only helps if it has air in it. I had a blowout on my Volvo a few months ago. Pulled out the spare and changed it in a parking lot. as soon as I let the car down all the air went out of the spare. Lot of frickin good that did me. :rant

I ususal think about a spare when I have a low tire, or when I'm on the way to a car gettogether, but that's about as far as I've gotten. I was going to put together a list of things for the trunk, but haven't gotten around to that list either;
spare tire
my spare HEI distributor in case my MSD fails(of which is on back order!)
maybe a bottle jack and wrench and tire of course (did I say a spare tire?) :shrug
Maybe a belt that runs my water pump
A generalized tool box of necessities

I do have a set of jumper cables and a towing strap! :pbj Then I can always call my brother to tow me somewhere!

A little junk in the trunk is a good thing...but if I talked about the junk in Moostang's trunk, I'd be a dead man!! :hide

I carry a full size spare in mine with a jack. ( I don't trailer mine as I depend on it getting me home)
