Why Do Bad Things Happen to Good People?

I got a call early this morning from a friend of my fiance's daughter that the daughter's boyfriend had been killed. At first they thought it was a suicide, which I couldn't believe having met him last year when we visited Mendocino, and now the police say it was a murder. They had just gone out this weekend to look at wedding rings. Why do things like this happen?

Dang that's rough. April has been a crappy month. A good friend of mine has had a hell of a time dealing with the murder of one of her friends. Then on Monday, we find out that another one of her friends was diagnosed with acute leukemia. I was friends with him back in college, but haven't talked to him in years.

What makes it even harder is that my fiance got into an accident in San Carlos the night before last while going out at night to help a friend with an emergency. He has a very long F-250 and there's one spot where he can't make the turn without backing up. There are no streetlights there and he clipped a building. He wasn't hurt and he's insured, but the owner is a crazy German who is trying to make his life difficult. He had to go and get special dispensation from the police and the Governor's office to leave the country to go be with his daughter. Fortunately, his best friend, also from the Mendocino area, is down there visiting him right now and he's going to drive him back in the morning.

My biggest worry right now is that he has a heart condition with a valve that's backwards and when he is stressed, it acts up and he's in terrible pain from it. Somehow he has to remain calm throughout this whole ordeal. I'm going to be worried sick the whole time. I can't get away right now or I would go, too, but I'm buried in work right now

So sorry to hear Laurie.
Take it from a guy who has had his fair share of "what did I do wrong to deserve this" moments as of late.
Hope your fiance takes it easy....
