Work last week

Spent last week at my friend's restoration shop....had a week of vacation that was use or lose. A day working on cars is better than a day at the office for certain.

In keeping with my plan, while I was there pulled the 403 out of the Trans Am...it's at the motor shop now getting worked over.

Few other cool things accomplished while there were things like putting the body back on the frame for a '57 Chevy. Also helped out putting the doors back on...not a task for the impatient for certain. Did a few other things like wet sanding a 1950 some odd model Ford truck.

Here's a few pictures of the progress on the TA...hoping to get the motor back this coming Friday and then we'll have to get it installed.

What we started with

Getting there...took a break for a picture because the fly wheel bolt broke loose rather suddenly and I banged my wrist on the frame rail...ouch!

Motor out

Um...I think something is missing under the hood.

Terrible photography but did get the engine bay degreased and painted while the motor was out.

All and all it was a fun week...would rather be hanging out at the shop instead of working. However, the mortgage company and the wife prefer I come to work. :roll

Send the motor this way, I'll fix it.

Ummm...no thanks, I'll have to take a pass.

Been waiting on buying a new Mustang until I get this motor done. Luckily, it's all running about on budget so far. Only extra cost so far has been I decided to throw a 1900 stall in the mix that I hadn't thought about until the motor guy mentioned / suggested it. Eventually need to change the gearing on the car but that can wait

I've seen a few Stangs that weren't bad but just haven't seen a deal I couldn't pass on yet. Seems to be more of them for sale more recently but still haven't seen "the one".

Yes, but it's 96% streetable. Just need to wire up the wipers, take the cage out, install a heater, change the windshield back to glass and maybe a couple other things. Just drove it yesterday, went for a nice drive to seat the rings on the new 308.

So after I get all that done...it'd be about time to rebuild another motor? :roll :part :hide

I'll remove the cage, swap the glass and wire the wipers. You don't need heat! Hell, even the race seats are pretty comfy.

It would really be a waste to turn it back into a street car. It's all sorted out and great for a track car.

I've been looking around (not so seriously right now...) for a Fox body

Either something like this:

or what I really prefer are the hatch back cars of the late 80's - early 90's vintage instead of a vert.
