Mr. Truck is very happy that I'm going to spend some quality time on him instead of giving Shag all the attention. Shag will be the guard dog - woof!
Had the rear end and tranny rebuilt and a old Chevy truck newbie is going to help me install both. The rear end as you see wrapped in saran, is actually an enclosed drive line called a torque tube which is fastened to the pumpkin that has the diff gears. Inside the torque tube resides the propeller shaft that does the spinning. I'll lift it into place horizontally and fastened it to the rear axle housing that is still attached to the truck. Once in place I'll install the tranny and finally connect the two of them via a U-joint at the back of the tranny.
Can't think of a better way to spend a rainy weekend.
