Wrong Key??

Would putting the wrong vehicle key into the ignition of a 2000 Mustang upset the security system and prevent the car from starting?

Accidentally put the F150 key in the Mustang ignition and now the car will not start with the correct key. I have tried both Mustang keys with no luck.
