2000 7.3 Powerstroke

guruatbol

Always on vacation!
OK, I took my 2000 F350 powerstroke into the shop yesterday to get an exhaust leak fixed. It has had an issue that is getting worse with power off the line. It seems to have a bunch of turbo lag. It has had for at least four years an exhaust leak and I thought it was the cause of this power loss. So I took it in and they found the pipe from the manifolds on both sides to the turbo were leaking at the turbo. Well I had them replace those and since they had to take the exhaust off to get to the passenger side I had them put a 4" exhaust on it.

I thought it would help me and give me more power. Well, after I picked it up and it I drove it off, (It was cold still) it moved like it was stuck in mud. High RPM but very slow going. Once it warmed up it seemed to be a bit better, but still not the power I have felt in other stock 7.3s before.

The exhaust doesn't leak anymore and the truck seemed to have a bit more power on the way home after it warmed up. Where should I go from here? The thing has nearly 200k on it. Could the transmission be the issue? Injectors? Turbo? I'm not getting any smoke.

Yep, what Ryan said! The Diesel Stop is a great place.

I have a 2000 7.3 with 140,000 and have experienced nothing like what you are. My knowledge of these diesels was zilch and grows everytime I work on it.
