or maybe they have other racers / friends close by that can help bleed the system and not depend on their significant other to help :rofl
 
I have an assortment of soft rubber caps that I've accumulated over the years, I have no idea where they came from though. It'll keep the lines from losing all the fluid, but will still need to be bled properly.
 
I'm about to remove the rear drums. Can I let the brake fluid drain in a pan thus letting air into the lines??

Yes you can, you'll need to bleed the whole system anyway.
