    The 69 is a no brainer for you. Exactly what you should start with and you already have it! A nice bonus is you can drop ANY drive train you want in it. BB, SB...whatever. And everyone loves a 69 so you'll be a crowd pleaser (attention getter) as well.

    yeah, that's what I thought too. My son wants to make a car like {.} that turns so I told him he can't have it for several years now! But yeah, we thought the same thing. It's already cool even in ratty form. Another plus is that I am pulling the C6, crossmember, BBF motor mounts, drive shaft, and other related parts, etc. from the 67 for the TKO swap so I will have a bunch of BBF stuff that will go right into the 69. I'm running the same rear axle in the 67. So I could pick up a 429/460. I do already have a small block and stuff now though so I will start out with that and when I blow that up I can swap in a BBF!

    I kick myself every time I see those pics of the 69. Who would have thought there was a complete car in all those parts... I like the plan.

    you know them? isn't Chevy powered also?

    the car is sitting under the back deck covered by a tarp. It was to be Lucas' dream car. And he may some day get to it but he has his hands full with the 99. We got the cylinder head back from the machine shop and he got some parts for Christmas for it too.
    I think was actually excited when I proposed the idea. He pretty much has given up on the 69. I think it is just overwhelming even though we have a pretty complete car, to make it what he wants would be a HUGE and expensive project. This way at least it will become a running driving car and he can have a little fun with it too.
    My wife surprised me though when I told her of our plan. She wants me to get a four eyed fox like the 85 GT i had when we got married. I taught her to drive a manual in that car. She really liked it. she was disappointing when I told her about the 69 plan!

    I'm ready! I need to get some rear gears, a spool and and torque converter and a few other things but I can start assembly on those things!

    I do want to play with a turbo or turbos. That is in the long term plan! First though I want to just put what I have together and get it running. Then I will start adding, modding changing things. Maybe breaking things too!

    I raced my 85 gt for about 6 years. I bracket raced at norwalk raceway going 12.6. This pic shows me leaving my burn out..

    Engine: 5.0 ho
    Iron gt 40 heads
    E-303 cam
    1.7 roller rockers
    Stock forged pistons
    Rpm intake
    600 double pump carb. (Holley)
    T5 trans. From 93 cobra with 3.35 first gear
    8.8 rear with 3.55 gears
    Rear lower control arms-lakewood lift arms
    1 5/8 shorty headers
    2.50 inch american thunder exhaust.
    Street wrinkle wall slicks
    Ignition. Duraspark 2 stock unit

    I launched at 4700 rpm and shiftted at 5300.
    I think thats it. No cage but i had to use a driveshaft loop.

    I used 3 inch tubing to connect my dual snorkle air cleaner down to where the fog lights use to be. Gave me colder air for the intake. I guess you could call it my make shift ram air. It made the car 2 tenths faster.

    was the car full interior? or did you lighten it up at all?

    It had full interior. I drove it onthe street also.

    That engine and trans are in my 66 now.
