Front Cross member and oil pan question

mmw68

Member
I noticed today that my oil pan is rubbing the front cross member. I never noticed this when we put the 5.0 engine in, it was not until today when I removed the cross member to work on something else I noticed the paint rubbed off the pan.

Is there another style of front cross member I was to use with the 5.0/T5?
Would something like this give me more clearance?

Maybe I just make some solid shims to lower that brace?

Are we talking a minor clearance issue like paint transfer only or are things getting bent up?

Just dimple the member where it's touching and put it back in. You should not shim it because of the way it bolts in. Remember those funny looking bolts it has?

You might have a bit of room to shift the engine and transmission back if yiou just loosen all the mount bolts. I have also shimmed the engine mount bolts to lift it just enough to clear. Make sure the bolts are long enough.

Just give the oilpan a dimple and adjust further on with the engine mounts.Maybe some body washers to raise the engine a bit.
1/8 inch space is more then enough.
Just my 0.02t opinion.
