Actually, GREAT news.
Our 14 year old daughter starts college this year.
Sort of.
The county school system has a program that accepts 50 applicants each year into a special high school. There were well over 250 applicants from 5 middle schools feeding the 50 member freshman class. Roughly, 8 kids from her middle school were accepted into the program. The small H.S. is a building onboard the local community college campus. Daughter will complete the 5 year program and walk away with both a HS diploma and an Associates Degree.
We've worked very hard stressing the importance of education to the kids and I guess 8 straight years of honor roll is finally paying off for her.
Total cost to me: $30 a year for the insurance on her program provided notebook computer.
