grinding discs?

I have been using the 3 inch green 3m roloc discs for grinding welds. They work well but can remove too much metal unless you pay close attention. Is there something similair that is less abrasive? It would be nice to clean up the welding discoloration and grind the welds at the same time.

I use those too. what grit are you using?

I am using the green ones which are 50 grit IIRC

I think the 50s come in 2 inch. You should be able to get 80s in the 3 inch.

I use the 2 and 3" green roloc disks with an angle die grinder (air tool). With just a few minutes of use, I found it was incredibly easy to finesse the disks to grind welds down to the point that the joint could not be found nor mud needed to be used. I guess it is a matter of touch and feel. I also use the paint remover disks with pretty much don't take metal away.
