Internal regulated alternator with external voltage regulator.

Trying to figure out if the new alternator I got off E-bay ( the description is not real clear upon retrospect) might be a internal regulated one. If hooked up to a system such as mine with a fender mounted , external Voltage regulator, what, if anything would happen??

Does your alt have the "field" terminal on it? If so - it's external. And I think you got yours from the same gentlmen that I got mine from as well - correct? I think I even looked at that one. And if I remember correctly, it was external as well.

Jeremy, after both auctions were over, I noticed the polished one stated in the description that it was externaly regulated, but the Chrome one did not. Not sure what a "field" terminal is. :hmm

Pre 85 were externally regulated. The back of yours looks just lie mine with the 2 teminals close to each other.
