Plastic welder--

Anyone got experience using one?, I bought a snowmobile last week and there are a couple of cracks on the hood, they are plastic hoods and some people use these to repair them---? Harbor freight has them for about 50 bucks.
 
Never used one.....a body shop in Az. had one. If not used properly you will end up with two cracks...one on each side of the repair weld. I have also seen some nice work done that seemed to last. As with anything...practice.
 
i think the trick with the plastic welders is to have the compatible filler rod for the type of material you are repairing. i've had excellent results with a two part plastic repair epoxy on the market now, but if you don't already have a gun to dispense the two part (SEM,FUSOR,etc.) you will be spending about the same amount.
