Testing Fuel gauge.

Did a search couldn't find how to test the fuel gauge on a 66. IIRC ground the sending wire and the gauge should register full. Correct? If the gauge when tested registers full then the sender is faulty. Correct?
 
Correct. Only briefly ground the sending wire line; long-term grounding will damage the gauge itself.
