Tired of the ignition problems.

What would I need to do to completely cut out the resistor in my 73 Mach 1 (351 Cleveland Engine) where I can run a hot wire and not have to worry about anything getting screwed up? Pertronix or something?

First remove the inst cluster.
Next remove the wrapping on the main harness.
Locate the pink wire and remove it and replace it with a section of 14 ga wire.
reinstall inst cluster panel.

Then will I no longer need a resistor? Or will I no longer need a resistor if I change it over to a solid state ignition system?

The pink wire is the resistor.....remove that section and the resistor is gone.....

Once that section of pink wire is removed, the wire connected to the + side of your coil is now a 12v switched source.
Depending on the Ign system your going to use will be determining if a resistor is required.
If one is required, an inline type can be installed.
If your going with a system like MSD, they need a switched 12v source to trigger box and now you have it.
