What to grab for 4r70w swap?

What parts should I pickup from the tranny to put into my 69 for a fmx swap? Will the yoke fit? How good are the stock convertors?

You're going to need the yoke (you can use a shortened c4 yoke), a new cross member, new shift linkage, and TV cable. Of course you'll need all the wiring for the computer stuff, too. You may need to modify the drive shaft if switching from an FMX. I've only done a C4 to AOD swap, and didn't need to modify the drive shaft at all.

IIRC, the stock converters had an 1800 stall speed. That's fine if it's a mild engine. If you have gears in the back or some meat under the hood, I would recommend a higher stall speed. I'm running a B&M Holeshot 2400 in my '66's AOD. It's a good fit, but I really wish I'd gone with a lock up converter. I went non-lockup which was a mistake, in hindsight.

HoosierBuddy over on VMF had a great page on this swap, but it's down now. Here's a link to the archived version though-

The archive sometimes drops pics, so you may have to look around. I have the whole thing in a pdf, but I have no idea how to post that here. I can email it to you if you like.

Email it to me at sk1n_w4lk3r@yahoo.com and I'll post it for everyone to download.

a stand-alone computer for it is available, called the Baumanator.
it's pricey, but you can tune your tranny with it for shift points and firmness.
and if you don't get that stuff right, your fun-factor will be pretty low.
