I have right now, a 16" pusher fan on a T-stat and a mechanical "flex" fan. The 429 would get hot (up to 240 once) in 100 degree weather in traffic. When it goes back together it will be a 502. Not sure that is going to make much more heat. I have an Edelbrock high flow water pump and 15% faster rpm on water pump (from pulley size). Driving at pretty much any speed it doesn't get hot, Just sitting still.
So I think I need better flow. I can't use a puller electric fan. There is not enough room. The mechanical fan is barely able to fit. As it is, the fan is bolted direct to the water pump pulley and blades barely clear crank pulley as well as being right up against the radiator. I do have a shroud too. Pictures below are before water pump and shroud but give you an idea of the tight quarters
