1968 seat back lever/forward issues

The driver's seat lever in my '68 quit working to allow me to lean the seat back forward. Luckily, the passenger side still works, but this is a PITA. Do I need to remove the upholstery to fix this? And how to fix? Unfortunately, the upholstery is fresh.

Thanks!

More than likely the arm popped out of either the lever or the latch.... hope that it's the latch end. The easiest way to fix it is to separate the seat top from the seat bottom... get the seat top up onto a workbench and take a peek under the side of the upholstery. If the arm came disconnected from the latch, you'll probably be able to fix it w/o removing the upholstery. If the arm came off the lever, you'll probably have to peel back at least that area of the upholstery. The good news is that this is relatively easy to fix either way.

Let us know how this turns out!
