1st new car....

First new car bought was a '97 Nissan Altima SE. I paid $17,000 for it and loved it. Got rid of it two years later with 96,000 on the clock. Yep, 48,000 miles per year. I still miss that car.

I think my first new car was in '97 as well. It was a new Dodge Avenger 2 door coupe for my now ex-wife. She was pregnant with our son at the time and she was driving about 60 miles each way to work. Turned out to be a bad decision, car was a HUGE POS. In the shop 8 times in 3 months. Dodge ended up taking the car back and giving us a deal on a new one. Transmission would get stuck in low gear and not shift. They replaced the trans, wiring harness and would tell us it was fixed......

Mine was a 1998 Dodge Dakata Sport. It was fire engine red, 2wd, regular cab, short bed, and 5 speed. Had armstrong windows and push locks. Basic as basic could get for the sport, but it had a V6 and the premium rims. I drove that thing like it was stolen and burned off the first set of tires. I quickly stopped that though when I found out how much it cost to replace them. We sold that truck with 120,00 miles on it in 2005 to buy our current family vehicle, a new 2005 Honda Pilot. Still miss that old truck and other than it drinking gas like Dave drinks beer, wouldn't have changed a thing about it. If I remember the sticker was about $15k.

My 1st new car was a 1988 Ranger XLT. 2.3L 4 cyl. 5 speed. I bought it in December of 87 right off the truck. I was at the dealer looking at an 87 Mustang GT but couldn't afford the payments and insurance and my 72 Torino had 215,000+ miles and was becoming unreliable in the harsh frigid Chicago winter. So I bought the Ranger thru Ford Motor Credit for just under $10K. The very day I made my last payment 4 years later it was totaled when a pregnant lady T-boned me while I was stopped at a red light! It had 97,000 miles on it and never gave me any trouble! All I ever did was replace the tires and tune-up stuff.

With the insurance money, I bought an 88 Chevy Silverado. Biggest peice of shite I ever owened! I sold it and was looking at buying a brand new 1993 Orange (yes Orange) SVT Cobra. Again I couldn't swing payments and insurance so I drove off with a brand new.... yes, brand new Ford Ranger! A purple short box XLT 4 banger 5 speed! I've owned 5 Rangers and one Bronco II but those two mensioned were the only new vehicles I have ever bought. Probably never buy new again either.

I might as well join in.... gulp....

My first brand new car was a 1982 Dodge Omni.

I'm not going to talk about this car with any fond memories as I don't think there were any.

One of my best buddies in high school had a Plymouth Horizon...we had a whole lot of fun in that car just being crazy kids. Back then it didn't matter as long as it had four wheels and took you from point a to point b.

My first new car was a 1998 Mazda 626. I purchased it 8/30/1998 and paid $15,000. I traded in a 1995 Z28 for it.

The closest to a new car is my current one. I bought a late 2007 Silverado back in Feb for 17,500.
I've never bought a new car.

Hey Rusty
My last car, 1997 240sx, was bought in 2000 with 38k for 14,500. She was my second 240. I loved that car. Quite possibly the best car I ever owned. I actually shed a few tears when I got rid of it. My first 240 was a 90 hatchback, and I drove the wheels off of it.

A 1977 Dodge D100 pickup. I bought it just after Basic Training for around $3K. If I recall, I had payments of around $65.00 a month. At the time I was making $374.40 a month.

I hated to get rid of mine...it was a great car. Had some "pep" to it also....nothing like being able to shift in the pattern of 1st, 3rd, 5th pushing it to about 1k short of red line when merging into moving traffic...I always thought 2nd and 4th are for grandmas....LOL!

My first new car was a 1986 Mustang GT...bright red with gray interior, 5spd T-top. I think the sticker price was around $14K. At that time I also had a 1968 Mustang convertible that I restored. I moved from the Bay Area to Dallas in 1989, left the GT in Belmont and kept the convertible.
