3 point seatbelts?

anyone added them? what did you use? retractable? If not, how annoying is it to drive with a non-retractable shoulder belt? looking for any and all options...

I am using retractable seat belts on my car. They mount at the door pillar and are not totally optimal since the upper mounting point is below my shoulder but I figure better than eating my steering wheel. I hid the mechanism behind my Shelby panels. Here are a couple pictures if you are interested. You may not have to do this but those looking at this who own a convertible it may help.

My daughter's 65 has them. Provided by Andover Retraints. Good people. I have prepared Shag for them as well but I'm still quite a ways before they get installed.

Ya...you don't want to rush in to installing the belt, like you did with getting Shag started!! :craz :craz

i installed a set out of a mid 2000's cadillac deville. i had to bend the mounting bracket on the bottom to match but everything fit & works like a charm. the little red release buttons in the buckles even match the red stripes in the seats...

I have the three point belts in both the front and back of my car.

I believe I bought mine from Virginia Classic Mustang.

I think I got mine from this place. I like them but initially they were to long and I had to have them shortened. I think if they were mounted up high like on a coupe or fastback it wouldn't have been a problem. One other thing that needed an adjustment was on the buckle side. I have Procar Rally seats and they have huge side bolsters. The bolsters made the buckle side a little hard to reach. I had the upholstery guy add about 2" which made it a ton easier to reach. Especially for passengers that may have a little larger stomachs.

I'll throw in my belts, here. They are sitting on my floorboards right now, so I can't talk about how they installed (yet) or any of that, but I really liked the classic style belts that have the old-school lift-flap:

The price was good. I believe Johnpro recently posted that of all the seatbelt packages he's ever bought, they were all the same stuff, the more expensive ones just came with different mounting hardware in the installation kit. If you dig in, you'll see that there are only 2 or 3 aftermarket seat belt manufacturers, they're just all being sold by different vendors in different packages.

Good luck!

Steve
