65 Radio removal

Before doing anything, disconnect the battery. If anything, removing the radio is one of the easiest things to do on these cars. Once the battery has been disconnected you can now remove the antenna, speaker and power cable from the RS and LS of the radio.

Here is what we are going to be dealing with, removing a stock AM radio from a 1965.

Remove the bolt that hold the hanging support bracket to the rear of the radio, shown here on the upper left quadrant of the photograph. (You can either do the previously mentioned step or you can remove the wing nut that holds down the support bracket to the rear of the radio)

Pull the dial and volume knobs straight out

Once the knobs are off, it will reveal the nut that actually holds the radio onto the dash.

Remove the nuts with a socket

Now carefully remove the radio out from behind and under the dash, this task is done even more easily if the heater box has already been removed.
