67/68 dashpad vs dash trim pieces

Wondering if I can install the instrument bezel and trim pieces along the dash now or do I need to wait and install the dashpad first. My concern is how and where the bottom edge of the dashpad meets all the trim pieces.

I believe that you have to have the dash pad installed first; the instrument bezel and the remainder of the dash panels hold the bottom edge of the dash pad in place.

Bruce is correct. If you're installing a new piece above the glove box, use the sheet metal nuts to cut the threads on the plastic posts before you install it. It's REALLY difficult to get that piece in place.

+1 on what Bruce wrote. Also, Craig, if you're using a new repro dashpad, make sure you do a careful dry fit of the pad first. On mine, I had to trim off a bunch in order for it to fit properly against the windshield.

Of note, too, is the 68 VIN plate. The dash pad goes UNDER the VIN plate. If you're not careful, you can easily break off the VIN plate. Ask me how I know. :headac

Thanks for the answers guys. Frank, good idea on cutting the threads while it is out first.
