how did you drive it without a steering wheel? that must have been a challenge! :steer

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Getting Ready for the HRPT - Todo List

I am driving the Diamond Blue one for a while.

Bent the Aluminum Panel for the fuse box this morning.

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Getting Ready for the HRPT - Todo List

I never use the ash tray. Si I am replacing it with another place to add a switch. I used the light switch are from a old dash I had. After welding it in, It looks factory. The first pass of paint looks like dung because the humidity was too high. Hope to finish the pain in a couple days.
Sorry, for only the one picture, all my build pictures came out blurry.

Also made the bracket for the new fuse box that will be in the glove box area.

You mean you have removed the cigarette lighter for the switch and not the ashtray, right?

no, he cut out the ashtray area and welded in another section of dash with an additional area for a switch. In his photo, that is where the 68 ashtray would have been...
That dude is too clever! Looks good John. I love all these little details on your car!

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Getting Ready for the HRPT - Todo List

My Bad...I was thinking of the 66 ashtray placement. Good job, Jon...I can't tell where it was!

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Getting Ready for the HRPT - Todo List

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Getting Ready for the HRPT - Todo List

A VERY large box was just delivered to my office. Now I just got to get it home so I can paint it light blue and do the install. I need to decide if I am going to use sun visors. I do not currently;y have the in the coupe because they are in the way due to my height. The problem is for my wife, she says she needs them.

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Getting Ready for the HRPT - Todo List

I want to put the switch for the AC unit where the Radio plate is.
<img src="http://www.stangfix.com/testforum/gallery/10/468-050313071911-107621033.jpeg" />

I bought a block off plate from Mustangs Unlimited. I hate stickers that will not just peal off.
<img src="http://www.stangfix.com/testforum/gallery/10/468-050313071918-10763451.jpeg" />

Got the sticker off but scuffed the finish, good thing I am going to paint it.
<img src="http://www.stangfix.com/testforum/gallery/10/468-050313071924-10764926.jpeg" />

Installed, now I just need to buy the AC system. I can not seen to get people/distributors to answer my email questions. Guess I fill have to call the factories.

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Getting Ready for the HRPT - Todo List

Ordered the Ac from Classic Auto Air today. They were very helpful, I wanted a custom dash setup and talking with the Tech, they came up with what I wanted.

Found out that they are sponsoring the HRPT Bus this year.

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Getting Ready for the HRPT - Todo List

WOW thats some quality work...very impressive

Re: 68 Coupe Daily Driver - Getting Ready for the HRPT - Todo List

Starting the install, Make sure you hook up a ground wire and the power wire.

<img src="http://www.stangfix.com/testforum/gallery/10/468-130313121646-10870497.jpeg" />

I used pieces of old wind lace to hold up the side, it also let it slide for alignment.
<img src="http://www.stangfix.com/testforum/gallery/10/468-130313121654-108711894.jpeg" />

I started at the back corner and started folding the window gasket around to the headliner.
<img src="http://www.stangfix.com/testforum/gallery/10/468-130313121701-108722154.jpeg" />

I had to remove the interior quarter panel to the C-Pillar pieces
<img src="http://www.stangfix.com/testforum/gallery/10/468-130313121708-10873222.jpeg" />

Gauge pod reinstalled.
<img src="http://www.stangfix.com/testforum/gallery/10/468-130313121636-108681814.jpeg" />

just have the passenger A-Pillar to go. it seems I need to remove the dash pad trim to get it to fir or it need to be trimmed. No sure yet.
