Anybody know a guy who would transport a project car

Like the title states, looking for a reliable and trustworthy service to enclosed trailer my mustang and the roller F1 about 1000 miles from the western 'burbs of Chicago to a new spot down Texas way. Anybody here know someone or got a good lead? The mustang is easy enough to set up with the well known, commercial operators but seems like they aren't too keen on a roller without steering or working brakes. Really not wanting to go to all the hassle and work of rigging that stuff up when it is easily rolled up into a trailer as is.

If anyone can give me some guidance on this I would appreciate it!

It seems like we are missing a few notable pieces of information here. Texas? and are you moving?

If I was closer I would haul them for you for diesel and beer, but it seems like you are on the wrong side of the country. I did ship a non-running, non-stopping car from California to NC once, the hauler had the equipment to winch it up on a normal multi-unit car hauler. That was an open deck, probably not how you want to move a project. I see a guy on my F100 page advertise, I will see if I can get you the info.

If I still have the truck and trailer, I’d do it. I don’t know anyone that would do it for free, especially for you.

This is where I want to take it. Could be I may finally have a real shop.

As far as it goes for the carrier search, I'm not looking for charity just someone reliable and reputable. I know there are guys that pop up on some forums from time to time looking for hauls. Thought maybe someone here might come across a lead. I may end up in a U-Haul truck anyway and could always drag it myself. That's how it got from AZ to here in the first place.

You are certainly full of information! Texas....shop building....but yet you continue to leave out the pertinent data. Are you becoming a full blown Texan, or just shipping your cars to someone that will actually spend time working on them?

I am actively trying to find a place to land when I get out of this hellscape State in which I currently reside. I've flown in and out of TX three times in the last couple weeks looking for the right spot to make this happen. The pics I just shared are of the shop building on the property I think is going to be the one. Got back late last night having shot down to see it yesterday.
Depending on a few things, I expect I'll be putting in an offer in the next couple days. So, yes. Texan I am to be.

I should warn you ahead of time, Mike makes regular visits to Texas so you may want to keep your address a secret! Plus you know {.} is always looking for somewhere to share his engine building prowess.

Sure. Goad me into admitting I am looking to move to Texas than tell me to keep it a secret.

Too cold up north Terry ?
Spent my whole life in Illinois. Tired of the long winters and and following dreary season before we finally get a few months of sunshine and decent warm weather before we go right back into the 7-8 months of gray and dreariness again. Tired of living in the over-populated hustle and bustle of suburban Chicagoland. Tired of spending more time shifting things around and cleaning up a garage just so I can have a third of that time to try and get any progress done on something that is supposed to be my hobby and enjoyment in life.
I also want to give my wife the nudge she needs to hang up her work shoes and retire and start to take it easy. If we stay here she will just stay in the same lane and keep doing what she has always done which is work full time. We also need to get away from all the extended family for a bit. 30+ years of being the stability of the family, the hosts of every single family function, every Thanksgiving, every Christmas...everything is enough. I figure about a thousand miles of separation is what we need.

And did you see that shop?! :D

I visited Terry and he has a nice house but as he said it's in Chicagoland which comes with weather. I left 40 years ago. Now I visit such places and then go home. And yes Terry I WILL visit. Just came back from driving all around Texas..well the western part.

That shop is a dream !
Yes , the weather makes a big difference of the way you live your life.
And yes , there is a time that you need to think more on yourself
Maybe Mike can arrange a " Visit Texas" so Mike and I can inspect that "shed" by ourselfs .
